Hon. Mutula Kilonzo

Family Life.
The late Senator was second born on 1948 to Mzee Wilson Musembi and Mama Rhoda Koki Kilonzo  in Woyani Village, Mbooni West District in Makueni County.
Married to Mrs. Nduku Cyrose Kilonzo and was blessed with three children Muathi  Kilonzo, Mutune Kilonzo and Musau Kilonzo. Was divorced from Felicity Mutete Mutula , who was a mother to Wanza  Mutua, Junior Kilonzo, Kethi Kilonzo and Michael Musembi Kilonzo.
He was a grandfather to Diana Kethi, Mumo Mutula, Peter Musya and callista Mutete . Two of his children, Kethi Kilonzo and Junior Kilonzo took up careers in law whereas Musembi is the Director of Tracom College in Nakuru.

Academic life
He attended HGM Primary School in 1956 and then later transferred to AIC Primary school in 1957 to 1960. He then proceeded to Machakos Boys until 1965.
He then attended and Graduated from Kenya School of Law in 1975 and decided to start his own law firm immediately, the Kilonzo and company Advocates. He studied with Chief Justice Willy Mutunga and Joyce Aluoch who currently works as a judge with the International Criminal Court.

Political life
 He joined politics in 2002 when he was nominated to parliament by Uhuru Kenyatta then KANU leader. He then joined up with the then Vice president, Kalonzo Musyoka on his ODM-K party. He then ran for the Mbooni constituency seat five years later in 2007 and won with a landslide. He was among the people who were behind the successful coalition pact that saw ODM and PNU share power to see the end of the post-election chaos.
In 2009, President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga appointed him as the Metropolitan Minister and then Minister of Justice, national and constitutional affairs. He was later moved to the ministry of Education on April 2012 that saw a landmark that banned the holiday tuition and fast-tracking of the Education Act 2012.
In 2013, during the hotly contested Makueni Senatorial race, the late emerged as a winner and the first Makueni Senator with a landslide victory. Sworn in on 28th March 2013 as the first sebator Makueni county.

Accomplishments
-Graduated from Kenya School of Law as top student
-Appointed senior counsel in 2003
-Drafting of the CORD alliance constitution
-First Makueni Senator
-Enactment of the landmark Education Act 2012
-Was decorated the elder of order of burning spear  and appointed senior counsel in 2003.
-The one and only best lawyer in Kenya
-Played a key role in the new constitution fast-tracked the TSC act and KNEC act
-Education Minister in 2012
-Minister for Justice in 2012
-Participating in Community Programmes i.e AIC Church Utangwa
