Peter Munya Sent Packing by the Court of Appeal
Meru Governor, Hon Peter Munya
had his election nullified by the Court of Appeal sitting in Nyeri that
ruled against his favour. Dickson Mwenda, a voter from Meru who filed the
petition last year had stated that the election was marred with irregularities.
The Governor from APK however in
return said that the petition by the voter lacked a substantial merit to have
his election revoked. Similarly his TNA opponent Hon Mwiria Kilemi had also
challenged his election in court.
Residents
have however reacted to the court’s ruling and just as the verdict was being
read, the Hawkers could be seen happy and over joyous but their celebration was
short lived and cut by the afternoons heavy down pour. Most of them said that
the Governor had mistreated them through his leadership and it was hence time for
him to pack. They were happy with the Courts ruling and hailed it as a
democratic ruling based on fairness and justice.
