
Transport Secretary, Michael Kamau has today unveiled the 'new generation plates.' speaking at Kamiti Prisons, where the plates were being made, the Cabinet Secretary stated that vehicles will be required to have these new generation plates displayed on the windscreen despite the usual ones that are displayed at the front and the back of the vehicle.

The new plates are fixed with electronic chips with special security features that all vehicle owners will be required to have. speaking while visiting the prison, he stated that there are also custom made plates that have the chips and will be issued at a fee not less than one million. in attendance at the launch of the new plates was the National Transport and Safety Authority Chairman Lee Kinyanjui and Prisons Commissioner General Isaiah Osugo.
