COALITION FOR REFORM AND DEMOCRACY'S POLITICAL TRIGGER

THE CORD’S TRIGGER

With the race to state house intensifying, several coalitions have been formed but among them, the CORD ALLIANCE, that has been referred to as ‘collabo ya power’ by the Sport’s Minister Hon. Ababu Namwamba, has sent a very powerful trigger to see it carry the day come 4th March 2013 in round one with an aim of acquiring more than eight million votes. The coalition that has merged several parties being the: Orange Democratic Movement(ODM), Wiper Democratic Party(WDP), Ford Kenya (Ford-K), PDP of Omingo Magara, TIP TIP of Kalembe Ndile, Muungano party, Chama cha Uzalendo, Kaduu Asili, Mkenya Solidarity Party of Maina Njega and the Kenya Social Congress set up a technical team to harmonize their party manifestos so as to be more united.

The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD), has once more showed up that they enjoy the support from the majority Kenyans to triumph the 2013 General elections. The alliance that was on a two day retreat on Thursday, 20/12/12 and Friday, 21/12/12 at the Great Rift Valley lodge in Naivasha, were set to unveil their political line up for the 2013 coming elections. The Collabo ya Power, is set to settle certain issues as it ascend to power next year. Some of the issues that are to be settled by the alliance are

Ø  land disputes

Ø  ethnic wars

Ø  unemployment

Ø  economic development

Ø  illiteracy

Ø  problems faced by the disabled

Ø  poverty

Ø  insecurity

Ø  infrastructure

Ø  ICC referral  cases

The alliance has also anticipated implementing the police reforms in line to the new constitution just as honourable Sugo said.

The trigger that has just been pulled a day ago, has already began making an impact on the likely direction the nation is headed to. It is notable to say that the Muslim fraternity from all over the country are now convinced that this is the winning camp and just after the alliance unveiled its line-up, the Muslim leaders made a visit to the prime Minister at his home. However, the pulled trigger has also caused a political animosity and unrest to the other alliances.

The eloquent and intelligent trade minister, Hon Moses Wetangula, when speaking, never failed to record that true change had come and that the time for a great political breakthrough had finally dawned with the inception of the alliance.

The Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka when making his remarks at the venue, defended his shuttle diplomacy to defer the ICC cases to the Kenyan courts. The Vice President said that it was important for them to set aside their personal prejudices first and put Kenya first. He also noted that the CORD alliance was not based on tribal lines and that the alliance could not be wavered by any storm. He also noted and I quote, the journey to bringing change has been long. But it’s still long since we have to do some work of wisdom.”

The Right Honourable Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, took an oath as Kenyans witnessed, promising to take the mantle and the work that the Kenyans have entrusted him with. He also took this time to ask the DPM, Musalia Mudavadi to come back home and join the winning camp. The PM, who is well versed for Kitendawili, never left the stage before thrilling his fanatical supporters and followers with a Kitendawili, ‘Tamaa ilimwua fisi. Lakini sahau ilimwua nani...............ilifanya ngiri ikashikwa .’.the PM, said that it was now time for real change  and the pilot had now got in and that they had now set to their destination and that as a pilot, he will make sure the plane gets on air.

The unveiling of the coalition’s line-up saw the rally that was touted as  the beginning of a grand march to the statehouse, unveil The Right Honourable Prime Minister, Raila Odinga  as the CORD flag bearer , The Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka as his Running Mate and trade minister  Hon Moses Wetangula  as the senate majority leader.

The intellectual leaders, had a positive deliberations that bore fruit and saw His Excellency the Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and trade minister Hon Moses Wetangula  step down in favour of the Prime Minister.mr Kalonzo, made a historic remarks as he said, “RAILA AMETOSHA” just a decade after The Premier said, “KIBAKI TOSHA” at the same Uhuru Park grounds.

AN 'ENIGMA' OF KENYAN POLITICS

HIS EXCELLENCY THR RT. HON PRIME MINISTER;
AN ENIGMA OF KENYAN POLITICS

Many people are left wondering who this man, Raila Amollo Odinga is? Several people refer to him in different ways just to show how they understand him depending on the traits and the support that he wins from the citizens. Some say that, Raila is a double-faced human being that is difficult to understand.  Otieno Kajwang’, Member of Parliament for Mbita constituency in Nyanza Province and a Raila loyalist describes him as a man who triggers many passions in different ways and one who is supported in almost a cultic manner by those who like him and that those who resent him are very frightened of what he can do with the apparent power he enjoys from his supporters. One of his sons and the first born, Fidel Odinga, describes his dad as someone he admires. However much this is his dad, he still says that whenever he watches the rallies, he doesn’t act like a son but a fanatical supporter. Mohamed Abdi Affey, Kenya’s Ambassador to Somalia, a former Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and former Member of Parliament for Wajir South constituency describes him as a nationalist with a fanatical tribal following.

However as some praise him, some also say that he is a propagandist that no other person can match in Kenya since he is able to create an expectation and make people believe that it is real. Some also believe that he is a man who does not represent change but an understanding of money and power.

However this is what makes him become an ‘Enigma’ in Kenyan politics.
He is kind of a mystery in the field of politics as it is difficult to understand how he makes it to be popular in this field. Tracing back to the 2002 presidential elections, this man played a critical role in uniting the forty seven tribes of Kenya. It was a mystery to the other candidates as he swayed and banked the support of most Kenyans if not all to rally behind the political vehicle, ‘The National Rainbow Coalition’ (NARC), that he was a key leader.

At that moment, the ‘Enigma’ sought to support the then Othaya Member of Parliament, Honourable Mwai Kibaki, and can be remembered for his historic declaration ‘KIBAKI TOSHA’ at the historic Uhuru Park that drove Kenyans Crazy. With the historic declaration, the NARC Coalition set to succeed the incumbent president, his Excellency Honourable Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi. It is true that the country heard his voice and they settled for nothing other than the presidency that was realised during the month of December as the then Electoral Commission of Kenya chairperson, Mr. Samuel Kivuitu announced Kibaki as the winner so as to end the 28 years of power that Hon. Moi had served as a President.

Kibaki was elected the president but five years later, the role that was played by the Premier was not appreciated and thus Kibaki sought for a second term as Raila sought for presidency on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party ticket that offered a strong challenge to the Party of National Unity (PNU) that was the political vehicle of Kibaki. True to it, the ‘Enigma’ was offered a great support that I term as the ‘Tsunami wave’ that blew across the nation. However as the election results were announced, the results had been rigged. After the disputed general elections, the power was shared between the two principles as Kibaki retained his presidency and Raila became the Prime Minister.
Today (2012), the premier is credited with major constitution amendments and is in the race to succeed the president. However still, he has a vast support from the citizens and still the most popular presidential candidates of the Kenyans, due to his good track record that speaks on his behalf.

Just recently, he joined up with his rival from the Wiper Democratic Party (WDP), His Excellency the Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka in forming an alliance referred to as the CORD ALLIANCE that has once again been supported by majority Kenyans, and is the likely alliance to form the next Government.

THE FUTURE OF MUDAVADI IN KENYAN POLITICS

THE POLITICAL FUTURE OF MUDAVADI

This guy, Mr. Musalia Mudavadi, a husband to Tessy Mudavadi, hails from the western Kenya and from western province. He is currently the Deputy Prime Minister in the coalition Government and the member of parliament for Sabatia Constituency. He is a well endowed luhya man with chubby cheeks. The luhya man has decided to venture into politics that has in the past been referred to as a ‘dirty’ game. Even as he hopes to earn from this field, it hasn’t been easy for him as he has been facing serious storms, some that he has brought down and most of them that have brought him down almost to the ground if not leaving him lying down horizontally on the ground.

The man I describe as a political sycophant, is facing serious political crisis in this political field and era. I tend to think that he is one of the people who are trading on a dangerous road as he faces serious decisions to make without a vast knowledge of what the future holds for him in this field. The Deputy Prime Minister, who was once a member of the Orange Democratic Movement Pentagon at once was the ODM point man in the western province but has presently, lost the western support even at his home ground in Sabatia constituency. As a matter of fact, he has been facing roadblocks and is likely to be locked up in a dilemma and a political oblivion.

Mr. Mudavadi who made a walkout from ODM early this year in the month of February, was the running mate to the Premier In the 2007 disputed elections. However, he has recently expressed Interest in the Kibaki Succession and promising to beat his once and major ally, Hon Raila in the coming 2013 general elections. The DPM had not been anticipated to walk away from his friend  went out and formed the United Democratic Forum (UDF) that he was going to use to pursue his presidential ambitions without opposition since he knew that it was difficult to win the delegates support as they were in support of the premier’s presidential ambitions. And therefore being that the premier had a good track record that spoke on his behalf, he enjoyed majority support from most of the delegates if not all and thus Mudavadi opted to give some flimsy reasons so as to walk out.

The DPM has recently joined the JUBILEE ALLIANCE about three weeks ago, with a major aim of fighting against the premier who was once his great ally. The alliance which has been named UHURUTO has recently involved the DPM so as to give it a national outlook but I tend to think that the latter has no great say in the alliance as he is just but a compromise candidate. Even after joining the alliance, things are still not working in his favour as he has not been granted the presidential nomination as he was promised earlier as they were signing the deal with Uhuru and Ruto. It is therefore true that the DPM is facing a political oblivion. I had earlier anticipated that he would not   work with the likes of Uhuru and Ruto who are ICC suspects and just a day ago, he came to the limelight and walked out of the alliance barely just three weeks after he striked a deal with the two partners, citing discontentment with the alliance top organs and principles as he had done in ODM. The DPM, who had a great future in ODM, is now locked up and is likely to be politically dead or in a political ICU but I still tend to believe that he can make a comeback to his great political career but maybe only if he joins the Orange Democratic Movement that has recently formed the CORD ALLIANCE and commands a great support in the western province and even in his constituency.

It is true that the reason why flies are buried in graves is because they lack someone to advice them and I want to postulate that the same  works on the DPM. I think that he has lacked someone appropriate  to advice him not unless there are ‘dark forces’ that surround a term normally used by his fellow DPM, Uhuru Kenyatta. I also want to note that there are MP’s who  have been on the forefront to misadvise the DPM ,the likes of Bony Khalwale( referred to as his personal adviser),  who are  ‘young babies’ in the political field and are not well endowed with making right decisions and have perfectly managed to sway this polite looking man towards a wrong direction.

I strongly postulate that Mudavadi can be resuscitated and brought back to where he belongs that has always been referred to as ‘home’. He possums that he is in the right path yet he isn’t. All that he has to do is to do some soul searching and get back on track otherwise I promise him that his political future is doomed. And as a matter of fact, the ODM delegation and fraternity, has always sent a message that he is always welcomed to make a comeback just as the prodigal son did.

THE POLITICAL SCENE IN KENYA1

THE POLITICAL SCENE IN KENYA
After the disputed 2007 December elections, all eyes are now focused on the coming 2012/2013 General Elections. At the moment, the political scene in the country is encountered by several coalitions trying to find out their way to state house in a race to succeed president Mwai Kibaki. As each coalition tries to put its house in order, Kenyans are left wondering and with tough decisions to make as compared to the year 2007 election. Infact , the politicians are involved in making tough decisions at the moment,  that may either influence their future political ambitions either positively or negatively as they might either lose ground or gain ground as their supporters may decide to rally behind them or not. However as they are involved in these decisions, some of them have rushed to make wrong choices, just to be precise and mention Deputy Prime Minister,  Mr. Musalia Mudavadi ,of the United Democratic Forum(UDF).

At the moment, we are aware of three coalitions that is: the JUBILEE, CORD and the PAMBAZUKO coalition alliances. Taking a look at each alliance, the key principles in each alliance are from different parties and therefore it’s absolutely true to say that the parties in each alliance have similar policies. The JUBILEE coalition is made up of the likes of the Deputy Prime Minister, Hon Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta of The National Alliance (TNA), Hon William Ruto of the United Republican Party (URP) who both are ICC suspects and Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Musalia Mudavadi, of the United Democratic Forum (UDF). This has led to the coalition to be termed as a ‘coalition of suspects.’. Mr. Uhuru and Mr. Ruto who are at the moment facing cases of humanity related to the 2007 POST-ELECTION skirmishes at The Hague, Netherlands court are the founders of the coalition. They have been accused of being tribal in their coalition and therefore, they sought to look for Mr Mudavadi of the UDF so as to give the coalition a national outlook

Mr. Mudavadi, who left Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) due to claims that the nomination was not fair, formed UDF and has at the moment joined the JUBILEE alliance that at the moment is facing nomination crisis. Even after the clause on direct nomination for the party leader to be endorsed as the flag bearer was amended by the ODM Election Board, Mr. Mudavadi still found it fit to quit the party citing discontentment with the party top organs. True to what has been said, the latter, had been offered some fake promise (that I refer to as a ‘fake promise’ since it has never been fulfilled), to walk out of the party so as to divide the western votes. I believe that for the latter to cite discontentment with the party top organs, this could have been used as a scape goat to walk out of the party so as to pursue his own selfish ambitions.

Mr. Mudavadi who was to battle it out with Mr. Uhuru for the coalition flag bearer’s  position seem to take a twist on the issue as the TNA and the URP side advocate for a delegate system, where the delegates are called to vote so as to choose the flag bearer. On the other hand Mr. Mudavadi advocates for a Consensus Method that is not readily welcomed by the two other principals. It is very ironical that Mr. Mudavadi who once advocated for the delegates system in ODM, Is now against it, and now advocates for the consensus method that he was against. I strongly tend to believe that the latter is in a political dilemma as his option is not advocated for by the two other principals but whichever way, there are reasons why he advocates for the other method. I strongly tend to believe so. It has been noted that Mr. Mudavadi opposes this since he has ‘GHOST Delegates’ and this has seen him come to the limelight about two days ago, 19th Dec 2012, to openly say that Mr. Uhuru had promised to relinquish his presidential ambitions and support him incase he joined the JUBILEE ALLIANCE, a promise I want to say was merely used to lure Mudavadi to join the alliance so as to give the alliance a national outlook that I strongly want to disapprove. I tend to say that the latter was blindfolded and was in haste to make the decision but however they had to be the ‘dark forces’ that pulled him there as Uhuru always talks of the power of these ‘Dark forces’.

A lot said about Mudavadi, Mr. William Samoei Ruto, also a key principal in the alliance, has opted for the delegates system probably because he is aware that his post is well preserved for him as the deputy to the person who will be chosen as the flag bearer. Ruto, who also walked out of the ODM, has been tainted the name a ‘REBEL’. since we all know that birds of the same feather flock together, Mr. Ruto  is said to have walked out because of the Hague issue so as to join and to flock together with  Uhuru who is also a Hague suspect. After his walk out from ODM, we have always seen him accuse the Premier of advocating for The Hague while he is the one who wrote to The Hague as the Premier and other ODM members advocated for the Local Tribunal that he said could not offer justice to the suspects.

Mr Ruto who has recently joined in the formation of the JUBILEE ALLIANCE walked out of ODM to a party known as United Democratic Movement (UDM) then later to United Republican Party (URP). I tend to believe that if they form the next government, he will be the first to walk out of the Government.

There is a lot to say about Uhuru Kenyatta who is in the race to succeed president Kibaki. The quest of Uhuru leading the nation has been met with mixed reaction both in the nation and outside the nation as he is facing humanity crimes at The Hague based court in Netherlands and is expected to resume the hearings on April just after the elections. The western nations are keenly watching Kenya and have spoken through their ambassadors to  Kenya saying that incase we elect the ICC suspects to rule over the nation, then we are bound to face several problems as they\ are going to withdraw their  support to the nation. However this has been denied by Uhuru and Ruto who are vying for\r the post of t come the March General Elections. It is a critical decision since if both are elected to rule then we are left to wonder what will happen if the president and deputy president will be out at attending to the hearing. We are left to question them if they will run the nation from outside. Mr Ruto has been caught up with most of the time saying that the two will rule the nation however much they will be attending the hearings. I tend to believe that they think that if elected, they will escape the hearings but I want to tell the two that they are deceived.

Some of our leaders are political sycophants. Look at Mr. Uhuru. He is said to have promised Mudavadi the coalition flag bearer and his party a portion of the Government but at the moment, he has turned down the offer and now demands for a nomination. If truly these are the leaders we are going to elect, then even the policies they are trying to sell at the moment are ghost/ false policies.

Much said about JUBILEE COALITION. I also have a say on Water Minister, Hon Charity Kaluki Ngilu. The name correctly states that she is a charitable lady. I think she gives even her political ambitions on charity and that’s why she weavers from one coalition to another. I tend to think that this lady, referred to as ‘mama Rainbow, is locked up in a political demagogue and that’s why, she is short of decision making.

As the JUBILEE ALLIANCE suffers several setbacks in the political field, I tend to believe that the CORD ALLIANCE is rejoicing on the political euphoria that they have embraced as they are having an established political leadership with the three principles with right leadership credentials that is: His Excellency The Right Honourable Prime Minister, Raila Odinga of the Orange Democratic Party(ODM), His Excellency The Vice President of the Wiper Democratic Party (WDP) , Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka and the Trade Minister Honourable Moses Wetangula of the Ford Kenya (FORD K). THE CORD ALLIANCE is yet to name their flag bearer tomorrow Saturday 22nd December 2012 at Uhuru Park, a meeting that is yet  to change the political scene as they unveil their leaders. It is truly a rally to be watched and the reactions of the citizens towards it. Just the previous day, Thursday 20th December 2012 as the Friends Of Raila (FORA) Vice Chairperson, Mr. Joash Mbulika, was receiving some UDF officials from Kakamega branch who decamped to ODM, the officials cited that they were not happy with the JUBILLEE ALLIANCE and so they saw it possible to join ODM $ CORD so as to be Part of the next Government. I don’t know whether they are on the right way or not but I now see what the Sports Minister honourable Ababu Namwamba said, that the ODM$ CORD are gaining grounds in western province as a true statement.

The PAMBAZUKO ALLIANCE is made up of honourable Eugene Wamalwa and Cyrus Jirongo who are also busy forming a third force to succeed President Kibaki. However recently, we have seen Wamalwa promise to support Mudavadi incase he wins the nominations that I think wont be.

However even as the race to succeed Kibaki gains momentum, there are some politicians who have decided to go it alone, the likes of honourable Martha Karua and Honourable Ole Kiyiapi.
