The Drama critic in revealing Political mischief

 The agony of play critics

Dramatized plays, have existed and been performed in various sectors and ceremonies since the ancient days. however, this plays still exists and have been embraced in politics and even in the academic sector as the students are always required to read through the set texts {i.e Utengano, An Enemy of the People, Mayai Waziri wa Maradhi, Kiu, Aman of the People,Siku Njema e.t.c}

and answer questions in the exams just as required by the education curriculum.

Drama, in the society, has been used to hail praises, to nurture talents, to enhance peace and reconciliation, to rebuke anti-social behaviors, to educate the masses among others but can also be used to criticize a certain issue.

however, recently the Government that has included this in the syllabus is ironically fighting it. The school drama festival was included in the schools curriculum activities and this runs from the zonal level to the national levels and has always been very competitive as students and pupils always give out their bests at these festivals. however just after the provincial drama festivals that were held last week, the successful schools, are expecting to represent their provinces at the national level but one of the school ,that is Butere Girls in Western province that performed the best play, have however been banned by the government from presenting their play, "Shackles of Doom," because it criticizes some of the behaviors that the leaders have. the Government through the Kenya National Drama Festival Organizing Committee has said that they banned the play since it wasn't capturing the theme of peace and reconciliation.

The Play that is performed by the innocent kids, is a p[lay that focused on unequal distribution of resources and opportunities in Kenya and that offered solutions to this problems amicably.
